The pic I enjoy the most is TOny's of the Monk using the cash machine.

Man, this is something I do often. I've been in Beijing 5 months as consultant for 361° sportswear (I hate it, but I'm here) and as invited foreign photographer of Chinese culture for the upcoming Spring Festival. Rather than post a hundred, I'll just leave a link to my zenfolio collection of Asian street people.

Feel free to crit (as I always do). There's more in my Aug and Sept collections there that I haven't moved yet.

Sun's out today in Beijing (first time all week) for the 60th National Day Celebration! Somebody record this for me! I'm off to Mongolia for the week!

I had a good look at your Zenfolio gallery Bob,,nice work.. Your B/W conversions are great but if I have to pick one,,it will be this one..

Vientiane is a great place to live although at the moment it's rainy (wet season) and at times smelly.. Wonderful cafes, food and beer though,, with a laid back lifestyle.

at least you know its rainy season so you know what to expect

but its the laid back lifestyle that is the main thing. its too busy here in london

Great stuff abjam77..I'm trying to work out what ethnic group these women are from. I'm leaning towards Naxi or Dong,,please let me know..

If these shots were taken I Laos, I'd say Akha..

abjam77 said he lived in China, so I'd put my money on a Chinese ethnic group.. This doesn't help much though as in the border regions of China, Vientnam, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar many ethnic groups have very similar lines..

For example the Miao in southern China are the Hmong of Northern Laos and North Vietnam who have similar roots to the Yao which are called Mien in Northern Thailand.. Confusing huh??

What's also interesting many of these groups jump borders to follow the agricutultiral seasons..

OK,,time for another pic..Here is a Black Hmong woman shot in Sapa in far northern Vietnam..

Shot on Fuji Superia 200,,negative scanned on an Epson scanner..

I spent a week in Sapa in '04 and again in '05.. The surrounding area has some of the most beautiful scenery I've seen.. Reminds me of Northern Laos..

The Hmong are a fascinating group and worthy of some research..

Google "Secret War in Laos",,it's a great read..

Hi, Yogestee -- thanks and I like your stuff as well. The shot you picked is from Tianjin. I just landed in Hohhot an hour ago. Already met a pro photo and video guy here who will take me around the next couple days. Actually I was making time with his young sister-in-law on the airplane from Beijing. So far, I like Inner Mongolia a lot. The terrain is awesome. Obviously a smaller city than Beijing or Guangzhou, where I usually base myself.
