Finally had an opportunity to use my 10-22mm. My friend's 1966 VW Bug on air ride. I haven't edited all the pics yet. Here is just a few. Please critique. I need to know what I can do to be better!:D

Canon 10-22mm

First one is nice. Composition is good and the concrete and graffiti add texture to it nicely. Nice car as well. Talk about slammed!

The car is a piece of art! I love it....
Which means you've plenty of opportunities to get the perfect shot.
So, moving on to your pics - and I've got the 30D and 10-22 so I know your likely issues - and I'd say that you have to really think hard about just how damned wide that lens is! Sooooo much gets into the frame, that the chances of getting some crud in there are massively higher than when you're using, say, a 50mm standard prime!

So, I have to say, I like your shots, but I'd suggest you try to use the incredible distortion (that's beginning to show itself in #2 - which I like the most) to it's best effect.

Get in even closer to the bug, tilt the camera-lens UP and see those lines go crazy!

Go for it, and I can't wait to see more!

Regards,
Simon

First, I understand that you're trying out the new lens. Have fun with it.
Second, shots like these are usually so some editor can run type over the empty areas. One or two of them go a long way. Personally, I don't see any other reason to take "car & landscape shots" until I've got some good ones of just the car by itself. I'd crop them all much tighter & clone the sign in #2.

And in #1 & 3, try to leave more room at the front for it to "move into". Post #4 in: MOVE YOUR FEET!

Unlike FrankC I like pictures of cars with some surroundings :) I like your pictures, but I would have taken one underexposed picture of nr 2 & 3 to get a nice sky and blended them together.

Thanks for the input guys! I'll try it next time.

I found it a bit difficult to shoot with all the trees and shadows. Also I know I need a CP to get rid of those weird reflections off the windows.

I love these shots. I even like the distortion in number 2! But the sign has got to go.

I love the compositions and the crops you have them at. I'm a big fan of car and background shots when they're done properly, and you did a good job of making the car appear as if it belonged in those locations. IMO, cropping tight all the time is just boring, I like seeing some effort put into locations. Nice work!

Isn't the 10-22 a great lens? I know I love using it.

don't like the camber on the rear wheels, but the car is great other than that.
