Hi, Yogestee -- thanks and I like your stuff as well. The shot you picked is from Tianjin. I just landed in Hohhot an hour ago. Already met a pro photo and video guy here who will take me around the next couple days. Actually I was making time with his young sister-in-law on the airplane from Beijing. So far, I like Inner Mongolia a lot. The terrain is awesome. Obviously a smaller city than Beijing or Guangzhou, where I usually base myself.

Stop it Bob,,I'm getting a bit jealous here ;) .. I love travelling to remote areas..

In 2007 my wife and I drove from Chengdu to Western Sichuan to a place callled Serta near the Sichuan, Tibetan and Qinghai borders.. It's part of the Tibetan Autonomous Region in China.. Gob smacking beautiful scenery and the biggest sky I've ever seen..

I've been to your website and read your words. I think we're cut from some similar cloth. I love asia so much more than western culture. all different priorites. Parts of China are becoming westernized too fast-- plus they kept some bad habits of old business practice, so the combination is scarey. I'll be doing Pingyao, Chengde, Chengdu and Chengquin before I head back to Chicago Nov. 1.

For cities I really like HK a lot. My partner and I have artist residencies next summer in Shenzhen and I'll be in HK often. I have friends and family in SZ, Guangzhou and Donguan. It might take me that long anyway to $$ recover. I haven't done Tibet or Xining yet, but done most other PRC areas. I was in VietNam, Thailand and Cambodia years ago. Film stuff, so I gotta go back. Every step is photo inspiration for me.

Great stuff abjam77..I'm trying to work out what ethnic group these women are from. I'm leaning towards Naxi or Dong,,please let me know..

If these shots were taken I Laos, I'd say Akha..

Those were both from an Yi village in Yunnan called Mushan. The second one was taken after we made friends with a little girl and she showed us her home and introduced us to her grandmother (shown in the picture).

mcluckie, I have never been to Xi'an so unfortunately none of the photos I posted were taken there...

Sorry about the crappy quality. I resized them using photobucket, which was clearly a mistake.

Real nice shots. Very personal.

The people in Xi'an dress very similarly. Lots of bright colors, head-dresses, beads, the lot. Looks like a tourist in red sunglasses to the right.

Yeah, that was one of my foreign classmates in the sunglasses. I am a bit mad at her because it sorta ruined the shot

Keep post abjam77..I never get tired looking at images like this..

BTW,,his boy looks Uyghur?? There were a lot of Uyghurs in Chengdu when we were living there..

I've always had this dream of documenting the ethnic people of Lao PDR.. Big job but I doubt the govt would be behind me..
