I wanted to go out and see what I could find after I got off from work today, and was rewarded with a great series just up the road from our campsite
I came over the Continental Divide and saw a car stopped in the middle of the road. This got my senses raised and I grabbed the camera from the passeger seat and set it on my lap.

I pulled over, well off the road and noticed a Coyote hunting in a small open field

Snapped off a few shots before it start walking further away.

I got out of the truck and hid myself right up against the front bumper for protection from the wind and hoping the coyote wouldnt really notice me if I blended into the truck. I've found the wildlife isnt too afraid of the vechicles, but if they see a human by themselves, the tend to run.

I watched as its body tensed up and it launched into the air

Comes up out of the snow with a fresh Kill. It looked over at me sort of showing off, swalled it whole and trotted off into the woods

You can see the snow falling in the background in these images and all of these shots are handheld with a Canon 30D and a Canon 400 f/2.8 ISO 400 This was just before dark at around 6pm

Tremendous shots! Love it when I see an animal or bird demonstrating its actual natural behaviours. Superb!

Really great shots individually and make even better series.
I saw this on a TV show on Yellowstone a few days ago , the video was impressive but these pics more so IMHO.

Excellent series! Great looking coyote too! The ones around here are skinny. Very fine shooting under the conditions!
