wondering if these are cropped?
theres an airshow here in a couple of days and the longest i have is a 200mm + 1.4x giving me only 280mm on 1.6 crop

Sniper,

I was shooting my 300mm + 1.4x recently and at times that was still to short. I was sitting right at the flight-line, too. Maybe you could rent a lens for the event?

Thanks for the nice comments.

As for focal length etc, I was using a 20D. Sometimes with a 70-300 IS, other times a 400 F/5.6. They're generally not cropped all that much, mostly just for framing purposes. The EXIF data is intact so you can see the focal length used. We had a dust storm coming through around the time of the airshow, so the main issue was lack of contrast and trying to bring it back in post.
