I kind of liked the colors of the clouds, which is why I left it as it is. Any change you make to the clouds will also affect the rest of the image. Do you understand what I did with the Layer Masks in the 2nd image?

Honestly, no; I know layers are the basics of PS but I really haven't worked with them yet...

I really like #6 and #8 of the 11-shot series. That's a beautiful waterfall, and it's huge, and you don't really get the sense of the size here. Shoot from all sides. Move back onto the little footbridge. Look for unusual angles (as I think you did in #8).

Yeah, I tried different angles (I took nearly 200 shots!). I was trying to capture that immense size. Those 2 you mentioned are 2 of my favorites. thanks for the comments!

Layers & Layer Masks are powerful tools that allows you to restrict changes to only parts of the image. Time to learn about them!

This is a simplified version of the Layer & Channel Pallets to illustrate using a Layer Mask to hide part of an image. Normally, I would have put the sky image over the P-51 image. Dunno why I did the reverse here.

I would love some honest, helpful C&C on these photos; what's right/wrong about them, how to improve with PP or better shooting, and if any think there one or two worth printing. I hope I can link to these correctly; i particularly would like feedback on the two mtn shots--how could I have gotten less of an overall hazy effect? I wanted the blue haze of the mountains in the distance but almost all the vista shots came out kind of hazy all over. I'm thinking I needed a filter maybe? thanks! :D

Sorry for the bum link--let's try this one http://s967.photobucket.com …yroo/Blue%20Ridge%202009/ (external link) please let me know if it's a dud too! thanks!

There is no filter that will cure the haze in the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. The haze you see in the images is very real and very much a part of our scenery. The atmospheric conditions are what lead to the mountains garnering their names in the first place. In recent years, the problem has been exacerbated by the crap spewing from the stacks of the TVA and the heavy industry in the eastern section of Tennessee. The dust and particulate matter does help produce some spectacular sunset images though!

Thank you for your comments; I think I should have worded my question better; I don't want to eminate the haze, what I would liked to have achieved is the effect you see in photos that have that bluish haze but the mountains are sharp, not vague. Does that make sense? Maybe I can find a photo online that depicts what I mean.

BTW I am SOOO jelaous if you live in that gorgeous area!:D
