Hi Clark,

Wow, you have no issue with screwing the local store and the salesperson who likely gets a commission on their sales?

Regards,
Jim

Truth hurts I suppose... I feel a little badly... I have got no scruples.

Not that it makes me much better of a person but I would not screw the local camera place but rather screw places like Best Buy, Cord Camera, or H and H Gregg which are retail stores. I could not live with myself to do that to the local guy.

I am sorry that I did not phrase things properly.

There is nothing around my area anyway so I am back to waiting for Adorama.

Maybe I'm just being overly optimistic, but with Best Buy getting them, I read on another forum that someone got his from Sears...... I would guess that we'll be seeing another round of deliveries from Adorama starting next week or the week after. I doubt it will be very long now.

I just hope I ordered early enough to make the second round.

LOL! No, I don't want to move anyone. If they happen to leave on their own, though, our chances get better of getting ours in "round 2". I just hope the "long haul" isn't that long! :)

Same here, hopefully I'm in the second round at Adorama, placed my order on 9-12.

While dropping off some film today at the local shop I asked about how they're doing with the 7D. They didn't fill all their preorders with the first shipment and have people waiting for the second shipment. They're expecting to receive it next week.

i imagine there are 2 groups, 7d kit and non kit, so I wonder how many people ordered the kit (28-135 was the only kit option mind you).

That must be how Canon is getting rid of the 28-135, I'll bet once they unload their inventory they discontinue the kit with the 28-135. I bought my 50D in the kit with the 28-135 and regretted it until I got my hands on a Canon film body. The 28-135 just isn't wide enough for a 1.6x crop body.

same here, cuz for $200 it's a great deal for the money, considering that brand new it costs $300 at least. last one I gave as a gift to a close friend. this one I might sell.

When I got my 28-135 kit today, I noticed some dust on both caps like it was sitting around in storage or something.

The 28-135 IS has been the kit lens since the late builds of the 30D. I doubt it's going anywhere for awhile. In fact I got mine with my 30D Kit.

I just don't see them continuing to manufacture it along with the 18-135. We'll see.

for sure they will. i love the idea of the 18-135, but i'm not sure if you know this, but it is NOT USM.

THAT...is a big dealbreaker, since when did they not put usm in any lenses in the last years. i would have paid extra for usm. big big difference from non usm.

You've worn out both the stick and the dead horse you're beating it with.

So, kicking amazon's business model is ok (the guy in post above called them idiots or morons and nobody reacted) and kicking adorama's is not? How come?.. :p (hint: the question is rhetorical. hint2: rhetorical question does not require an answer  )

The 18-135 is Crop Body only and is not USM. Canon's retail price for the 18-135 is $500.00 and $700.00 for the 28-135. So they're really not in the same class. As has been said, $200.00 extra in a kit, is quite a bargain for a pretty good piece of glass.
