Oh, crap. I really liked that shot, and was completely oblivious to that shadow. I guess I'll put it down to rookie mistake. Thanks for pointing it out, lesson lerned...

Quickster, those are some great shots. The first one would be much better if it didn't have those flares. Were you using a UV filter by chance?
The second one is just awesome, unusual but very good colours for that type of shot.
