Oh no Geno! Making wine? :D

Here's a quick few from as of late. Loving the 5D2/24-70L combo.

looking at the last few pages of this thread and seeing how disgustingly good this lens is, just makes me want to throw up. must have.

(hope i dont get the 'is my 24-70 a good copy' syndrome)

its just a myth right?

Not a myth, just greatly exaggerated and hyperbolized. I have no doubt that there are some "bad copies" out there, but most people find this to be a great lens, on the first try.

Well, look at it this way. Even if there are chances it is a bad copy, it still can be an amazing lens. I know I am going to order it (TODAY!), knowing there is a small chance it can be bad. Worst case I'll send it in to get calibrated if Micro Adjustment can't fix it.

And even with bad copy it could be better than many 'good copy' lenses out there, i will always be happy with bad copy of 24-70 over good copy of kit lens or 28-90 that i have or sigma 70-300 that i sold out without any regret, but i am lucky i have a good copy unless i have some of back/front focus issue that i never tested or had a problem when i took thousands of photos with the brick so far.

I'm about to join the club fellas. It the brick really that heavy? i guess I have no choice since I'll likely be dumping my 85mm 1.8 to fund part of the purchase.

thanks

I've been playing catchup with some earlier shoots. So, this summer I came across a patch of sunflowers that was being covered by a lot of bees.

I had the 1D3 with the 24-70, which has a nice close MFD and so was able to get some nicely framed flower shots like this:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/118225896/original.jpg

And then I moved closer to the MFD for more almost-macro shots like this:

IMAGE: http://www.pbase.com/tonylong/image/118266183/original.jpg

The nice thing is that the shots resolved so well that I got some good 100% crops:
