It appears that it covers a wide range. So do you like it

I use it but it does not seem to go to 6400 unless I use manual ISO. Seems to top out at 3200 even when it's pretty dim. In the menu 6400 is selectable so I'm not sure what is up.

correct, auto only goes to 3200. I've used a little for video, since in manual you are still somewhat restricted the shutter speed. That is, if you use a fast shutter speed in movie mode you can get choppy results of moving subjects.

I would if I could control it. But then again, I'm a control freak.

Too bad. The Nikon D90 could use 6400 in the Auto range. And it let you select the minimum shutter speed as well for Auto ISO!

I never use the auto ISO, like to be in control of that.

I use it in the cases where maintaining the shutter speed is more important than which ISO the camera uses.
It's a lot more useful than the (in reality) 400-800 range on my 40D.

I normally wouldn't use it as the lighting conditions for most shots would be fairly static, with one exception. I do photography coverage for parties in NYC, and with all the lights going nuts and all, it's hard to get consistent shots. Auto ISO would definitely be perfect for this, as I know I'll keep my lens wide open, I'd still want a fast shutter to keep it sharp, but don't want to have to go nuts every time with ISO to ensure I got the shot.
