Has anyone ever had any problems with warranty issues on this lens? Is it worth getting the extended warranty? Too bad that Canon doesn't have a warranty policy like Sigma!

Mine has worked flawlessly, it's built like a tank. I did send my 300mm f/4 IS back to Canon out of warranty and they were very fast and only charged me $95 for a couple issues.

I own a buch of cool camera stuff...

Extended warranties are a big profit item for the sellers. Pass.

I've never had a problem with my lens. Any extended warranties are cash cows for sellers be it TVs, cars, etc.

I once worked for a company that in a training video stated that extended warranties are great for the company's profits because they get money up front and usually the products don't need fixing before the warranty is over.

I have had mine for about 2 years, never had an issue. Canon L line of lenses do have really good build quality and will last a long time under professional and normal use. Use the warranty money and buy a good bag to carry your gear or UV filter to protect the front element.
