Since these were way outside my normal sphere of photography, I'll offer them for The Shredder!

Jay - nice. But why were you back on Michigan shooting CMU? Both area great captures - be next time tell the fuzz to move out of the way when you are trying to take a shot.. :)

Hey Scott... hope you've had a good week! Here's a recent shot I took with my little P&S while on strolling thru Pasadena last Friday night during their annual artwalk. It's a bit grainy, but I thought it actually worked with the shot. Tell me what you think, thanks!

Hi Dog!
Well......my first impression is no. But after I crop a bit off the top I do see why you took it. There is hope but not sure enough for me to give it thumbs up without some massive editing work. So I would have to sit on it a little longer to get much else out of it (pun intended).
Keep on shooting -- thanks for sharing!

'Cause I'm CMU Class of '84 my friend! ;) This was my first Homecoming ever in 25 years.

Yeah, I'll work on LEO extraction better next time... :p

Thanks Very Much.

LOL... love the pun.. and I tend to shoot a lot of chairs and tables for some reason. Yeah, I knew this one wasn't my best, especially since it was shot with a P&S. I'll wait until I have something more worthy to post next time! Thanks for the C&C as always and have a great weekend!

Ok Scott...

This one speaks volumes to me but does it say anything to the masses:

QUOTED IMAGE

My preference is for the first one - the second one is pretty good but the bottom of the photo (legs etc) are too dark and lost in the photo. If I was picking one for news work it would have to be the first - nice capture - I understand how difficult concerts are -- no light or too much light and lots of movement - hard to capture winners under these conditions without using flash -- I have shot a lot of concerts and understand how difficult the elements are.
Thanks for sharing!

Jay this is a nice shot. The little boy and his interest with airplanes works - cute kid at the fence - hard to go wrong with cute little kids. The focus is obviously the boy - but there is enough airplane to get the basis of the shot - I think it works - If you wanted more drama - you should have given the boy a toy plane and have him hold it to his side while looking at the plane....come on start carrying more props with you (pun not intended)
Thanks again for sharing.

John,
First of all welcome to POTN - let me say that I am a wedding shooter and look at shots like these in a wedding context -- one thing I like to capture is emotion on faces - I do not see much here in the way of that - she is not being very expressive and to me takes a ton away from what really could be. The other thing is the "HIS" sign - not sure if that is hanging in her hair or on a door --- I am actually confused on this one.
Thanks for sharing!
