Running dog sequence with 7D: http://picasaweb.google.com …eshow/5396104721923182482 (external link)
It was shot with 7D and 85/f1.8 at f4.0.
Before 7D I had a 40D. With 40D I never can do similar running dot sequence.
I think the 7D's autofocus is superb, but I never use an 1D series.

These are fabulous! How did you have the AF set up for these shots?

Nicely done, very encouraging.

I dont have photos to post YET, just got home from a youth league football game. I had it set to High speed and WOW the 8fps is just retarded!! Its so fast and smooth, way faster than my 20d. And as for the images, they are WAY cleaner than the 20d as well. Was using the 70-200 IS f2.8. I'll post photos soon.

That looks really good for ISO 12,800. How well did AF work overall in that lighting? What was your % of OOF shots?

The AF worked really well. I took about 150 shots and about 10 were OOF and only when I aimed it wrong. I used center point as I'm not sure about expansion and zone yet. The quarterback #7 is the son of a friend and I did not want to screw up.

This is great to hear! Thank you for sharing your experience with the 7D. I am almost ready to make my decision. Keep posting your pics!

Here are a few from the game i attended today. Was hoping to shoot a night game last night but the rain kept me from getting my camera out.

All of these were shot with the 7d with the 70-200 IS f2.8

Those are very nice captures but that shutter speed is a little too slow. There motion blur and with the light you had you could have gotten crisper shots. Don't be afraid to bump up the ISO and set your aperture wide open. Not sure what mode you shoot in but AV is the best I think. Try to get the shutter 1/500 or better. If you can shoot sports between 1/1000 and 1/2000 you will get great consistent images. Noise can be easily cleaned up. I shot a night game at ISO 12,800 because I has no choice to get the shutter between 1/320 and 1/500. Images are in this thread.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get the ISO that high. Only half through my owners manual. LOL
