Best 'Excuses' You've Used to Convince Your Wife to Get a New Lens....

Lucky me, if I ever need something, she'll just ask to make sure we can affor it, then let me do my thing. This is a 2 way street, though, so she basically goes shopping for new clothes/shoes/bags about once or twice a month (which just about equals out the spending on my few lenses a year).

Honesty works. It's less you have to remember too!

"These are not the lenses you are looking for..." (wave hand in front of girlfriends face).

no one to answer to apart from my bank account, so my new tamron 90 mm macro and sigma 150-500 should be arriving in the next 12 months i hope

Heh, mine just says "if we can afford it" - but shortly after she has said "do you really need it?"...

Of course, her other question tends to be "is that going to be too heavy for me to use!"

It's so trueee! The L-sickness is spreading to so many people. There's nothing that can prevent it. For some reason, if I discover about an L-lens, I just want it regardless. Oh man this is crazy!

i believe it was "you have to shoot this wedding, do it right, and buy the bloody thing (24/70 f2.8L) she spent three days on the phone, trying to hire one, and had resigned herself to using my rather average sigma 24/70, on the way there, she was telling me she was a little worried about the quality of the lens (i have no trouble with it, but she thinks its a bit soft) so i told her to shut up, go and buy the L

Last lens i had to convince her i needed was the sigma 10-20mm, excuse was something along the lines of "its my tax return, im going to spend it on an ultrawide"

my wife being a wedding photographer makes it a bit easier, in fact we dont argue about if we are getting new lenses, just what they are going to be.

What new lens? I've had that for months...

A baby arriving soon is a great excuse. That is the current one I have been using. In fact that one worked great to get the 5Dii. You have to have video capabilities if you are going to have a baby right?

Note: Don't have a baby just to get new gear.
