I dont have any pics to put up yet, but interestingly I have been struggling with a 17-35mm L that I finally returned for repair or replacement and a Sigma 24-70 Macro that I have just not been satisfied with.

i've got a 24-70 sigma delivered tomorrow as well to use on the 1.3x crop....i'm hoping i have a better experience than you've had, fingers crossed!

I've been using a Canon 24/2.8 prime and have enjoyed it but I can't wait till I get a Sigma 24-70 HSM or somehow an L to use on my Mark II. I love the Mark II with my 70-200/2.8L and it'll be even more awesome with a 24-70.

i've got myself a non hsm model....i work in nightclubs so the extra noise of focussing isn't even an issue. the extra stop of light is, and i'm hoping its going to give my pictures an edge over the 17-85 i've been using up untill now. i'm also hoping that focussing in low light will be ok....been using the 40d for a long while which was always spot on, whilst its in for repair i've been using the 450d which won't lock on occasionally and is annoying. hopefully the 1d af with a 2.8 lens will work well.

Noise was never an issue for me, it's the speed and accuracy. HSM is better than non-HSM with any lens, even Canon. Should work well for you though. If you use flash like most club shooters then the AF assist should help enough anyway.

yeah my flash lives on my camera and never comes off when i'm shooting. hopefully i'll get a lock every time using the af assist. i know that the 1d's af is legendary, so i hope it'll compensate for the non hsm.

next stop for me will be for a spare lenmar and a filter....although i may be able to use a step down ring and an existing 77mm filter on the 82mm 24-70.

Just sent my payment. I should have my 1D in a few days, too long to wait though. It should be a nice upgrade from my XTi.

That's cool. I've got the 24/2.8 which is from the same generation as the 50/1.8 Mark I and the AF is pretty snappy on the 1D but even with the camera being so good, I do miss the speed of USM when I go from my 70-200L to the 24. Should be good though, I look forward to having the 24-70 focal length because 24 is plenty wide and to zoom will be awesome.

I upgraded from a 400D to a 1D classic and then went from both to my Mark II and it's been awesome! Have fun with it.

thanks, i'm not quite sure how to invisage that, but the cameras being delivered tomorrow so i guess i'll find out then. i don't mind two buttoning so long as the photo will fill the lcd when i do so...

That is the only complaint I really have. The display is sooo small. But I'm learning that since the AF is dead on, I don't have to worry about it, other than occasionally checking the histogram.

It's remapped to the rear * button.
MF switch on lens in wrong position?
Some other setting? Maybe try a master reset and all should be well!

ok, now i've got it, it is the rear * button. press and hold it to focus and then press the shutter.....i'm wondering if a master reset will put it back onto the shutter release...

It will... I forget the CF # to re-enable it, but I can usually find it pretty fast when I get into the menu.
