Cant decide on a partner for the 7D....

Canon EF-S 15-85mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM

or

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM

Any input on the matter?

Consider the Tokina 11-16mm too. Great UWA lens.

Well...they're pretty different? You can't narrow it down farther than this? Do you need to take "regular shots" with this lens as well as having wide angle capability...get the 15-85. Do you want extreme wide angle shots and don't mind switching between that and a normal zoom or prime lens? Get the 10-22.

One is significantly wider and more limited in scope, the other is more versatile but not as wide. It's gonna come down to what you need.

I wouldn't bother getting the 15-85 if you've got a 24-105 for your 5D2. The 10-22 would be the best choice but again, if you do have the 5D2 then a 17-40 for that is just that little bit better because you've got constant f/4 and the 5D2 gives you so much detail when used with a good lens.

Since I can use all of the lens I have now on the 7D, I was looking for something on the opposite end of the 100-400L.

I had the 10-22 but sold it with a water housing and a 20D. I liked it a lot. I miss the super wide angle.

I was mainly trying to get a preference for one or the other.

I'm also open to anything else wide with the 7D. I do tend to stick with Canon products though.

Some sports shots will be taken with it.

Well 10mm to 15mm is a 50% change. So that's a big deal even though 5mm sounds like a lot. Do you want a wider than average standard zoom or a pure ultrawide.

what kind of sports shots do you take with a UWA?...

i'd probably do what others suggested if you want super wide angle...and get a 17-40mm for your 5DMKII

15-85 is not super wide angle. and those two lenses complement one another.

Yea, as others have mentioned, you should probably take the 15-85 out of the equation. Definitely look at the Canon 10-22, Tokina 11-16 or Sigma 12-24.

Buy the EF-S 10-22 and don't look back.

You have a 5D Mark II as well..

If I was in your shoes id leave the long stuff to my 7D and go for a Canon 17-40, 16-35 Mk I or a Sigma 12-24 for my 5D Mark II instead of a 10-22 for the 7D..

Just play to the respective strengths, thats all...
