Not exactly a thread for posterity, but I thought I'd put up the good deal I got today.

After getting ripped off by Newegg on the Canon rebates (they raised prices on the 17-40mm by $80, then applied the $50 rebate... shady), I decided to look around.

I got a 17-40mm from Beach Camera off eBay for $662 shipped, after an instant 8% cash back through bing.com - that's right, instant.

amazon did the exact same thing on this lens. it was $709 until the day of the rebate. not it is a little more expensive after the rebate.

the only people who are taking advantage of these rebates are the retailers, not the consumers.

So the deal was actually Bing, not Beach Camera? BC also raised their prices such that the Canon rebate means nothing. The 17-40 was $706 before the rebates came out.

It's at $709.00 right now at Beach Camera.

I bought the 17-40 off amazon just BEFORE the rebate, so I got it slightly cheaper. :/
