Hiking mission peak (Fremont, CA)

Mission is lovely in the winters. The fog creates truly beautiful scenes. I rarely take my camera but this time I tried taking my Kata T-214 sling bag with my 7D, 17-55 and 100-400. Mistake. The weight on one shoulder while the traps were working hard during the climb made the shoulder sore as hell. I think I'll try out the cotton carrier next.

In any case, made some nice shots I think. C&C ?

I really like the first shot, too! Feels like it wants a tiny bit more pp, but it looks beautifully ominous! It's funny with the second shot, since it somehow screams of wonder, but something seems to hold down excitement. It's probably underexposed and really needs some denoising. They all can be really stunning shots with only a bit of treatment. That means they are great shots, no matter what. I hope you don't get me wrong!

I really like the 2nd and 3rd photo. Nice persective.

You are right . After a while, I was like.. "Nice scene. Will be there the next time when I am more fit and have energy left to swing the bag around". When I came home and saw the photos on my TV however, they turned out real good. So yeah, somehow how ever much I end up cursing the weight of the camera equipment, with all I have learned over the last several year, I end up with some images worth the bother.

However, I did see several fantastic opportunities to capture some ultra fit types running down silhouetted against the sky, some people struggling etc. By the time I got the camera out, the scene had changed. I really think that the cotton carrier concept is the best for this. I just hope that leaving the camera hanging down doesn't get the filter on front all fogged up from the steam/sweat (As I plan to keep the cap off)

Thanks for the comments. Appreciate them! You are right about the somewhat lack of pop: At home, the second image looks pretty nice, on screen here, however, it looks fairly dull. I'll give it a second go at PP. All I did was play around in LR for these as I am hopeless with PS and have this reluctance to do anything outside of LR.

Unless I am photographing frequently, I tend to forget ETTR/HAMSTR rules and end up loosing bandwidth later on. I am sure that contributed a little in getting suboptimal shots.

Thank you!. The second shot was a stunning scene. There was a cow involved somewhere but I just could not work that fellow into the frame.

I updated #2 and #3 with adjusted pp for popping them out better.

The problem I think is that I set my LR background to dark grey and like my smugmug to have a dark background as well. Those dark background make somewhat dull photos look decent till they are shown on POTN's light background.
