I am new to using flash and slaves for my photography. and I'm tryig to set up my canon speedlite's for slaves. I have a 580EXII and a 430 EX.

I understand that the 580 is the main and the 430 has to be the slave. But I can't figure out how to configure them and set them to fire at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated

Press and hold the Zoom button on the 580 EX II for a few seconds. That will allow you to set it to Master. Select a channel. Next, set the 430 to Slave (slide lever). Set to the same channel. Done.

I have written a tutorial covering how to use Canon's wireless flash system. You can find it in THIS thread, and on my Deviant Art account HERE (external link).

Setting the on camera flash as a master and setting the off camera flash as a slave are the first things I cover.
