I just got my tamron 17-50 VC today. I had Canon 17-40 F4L and at this point the canon is going on the shelf.

Fanstastic! I hope you make a review! Where are you located? (Just wondering when I should expect my lens to be shipped)

You could just buy it from a U.S. retailer.

after 2 weeks the non-VC ver. increase its price of $7usd.. $370 before, now $377
possible end of the non-vc era?

i hope not....

I hope that doesn't apply to those who have already pre-ordered... :(

Yes ... the VC version will replace the non-VC, that is the general idea among resellers and distributors.

Suppliers in Belgium and the Netherlands can not order the non-VC anymore.
It's on backorder with Tamron, and has been so for a while.

One guy told me he ordered a few copies (non-VC) 2 months ago and his distributor cannot get a confirmed order from Tamron for those lenses.

I preordered mine 2 weeks ago and asked them thru email yesterday. That was their response.

I can confirm this... I thought i had purchased a non-VC version for a "too good to be true price" and, well, that turned out to be true.

So I started looking into getting the VC version from local vendors here and online.... and it appears that yes the non-VC version does seem to be going out of production as no orders can be taken on that lens anymore and the VC version does appear to be 2-3 weeks more away from Canadian vendors...so figure one month away from being in customers hands.

The only place that was showing the lens in stock ready to ship yesterday was Amazon.COM and today even they are showing pre-order.
