It might be easier to take the center column out of the tripod and then you can easily hold the center column in one hand and the pan and tilt head in the other hand.

Initial impression is that it feels pretty nice and sturdy. Gonna test it out this weekend for Halloween. It also comes with a nice carry bag.

The head can be removed. It's so easy to remove a caveman can do it. My 488RC2 ballhead won't fit though, it needs a different size screw.

Just a heads up for anyone who still wants one of these. Adorama has it listed for $174.95 which seems like a decent price to me. Also there is 6% bing cashback and I got free shipping.

It's a very good tripod. I immediately put an Arca ballhead on the pod, but that's because I can't stand pan-tilt heads. Legs alone are very good. Only reason I sold it is because I upgraded to a Gitzo, but for $130 combined, you cannot go wrong.

Name is Peter and here is my gear:

Speedlite 580ex II, 430ex - Gitzo GT-3541XLS w/ Arca B1

quickie question...
I do have the means of determining the size of the bolt at the top of the tripod with the head removed, but not until Monday @ work...
Anyone know what size bolt+thread that is so I can get an appropriate ballhead?

If anyone wants to know how to remove the head it is simple:
1) Tighten knob that clamps vertical shaft (prevent everything from rotating)
2) grab lever (on head) and twist CCW

head removed...

7D's and things that go zoom.
