Help: How to Direct People in Certain Positions?

I'm not much of a people shooter but I've been wanting to get into it. I'm somewhat of a shy guy, especially when it comes to females. But I'm going to step up my confidence!

so my question is, what can I do or say when directing people? Do i just ask them kindly, "can you get into this certain position?" or should I be in somewhat of a demand and be like "get into this position?"

and if say it was a female, should I adjust certain parts of their clothes or tell them to do it? (for example, if their hair was not how I wanted or a bit messy or out of place, or if they were wearing a jacket or hat and it wasn't positioned perfectly).

I'm sure I am missing a lot of other questions, but can anyone fill me in on how you guys do it? any pointers will be helpful

wow at 3:45 on the vid there.... I know you can fire off a burst to avoid the blink shot but he was really going to town on that bad boy, like 25 shots or something lol. I thought it might be the rattle at first! Gotta love them pro bodies.

Demonstrate the pose for them so they can see how it should be done. I have them stand where the camera will be and I stand where they will be and I do the pose. Then whe they do it refine it if needed.

Female clothing. If another female is in the room have her adjust the clothing. If it is a bra strap have her adjust it. If it is a bunched up blouse or jacket CAREFULLY grab it and pull gently. Be careful not to bump the boobs ever. If you do (I have) says OOPS and go on. She will know if your OOPS was for real or an "accident."

Hair. Smooth it out and/or sweep it back.

Hats should never be square on the head. Always tip and tilt them so the bill DOES NOT obstruct the main light.

Unless they're uniform hats, particularly military, which will be at a very specific angle (garrison/flight caps) or dead straight (service hats, berets).

It was the rattle trying to get Lucy's attention At least I believe it is. He was using strobes and I highly doubt it would be able to keep up with that burst rate.
