I see, thanks for the answers. With the new Flex/Mini PW, I could change it from camera, correct?

you can only do it with a st-e2 (ettl), 580exII (manual+ttl) on camera-hotshoe-flex ... or wait for the zonecontroller

The 602s haven't been out that long for a long term review.

When I was shopping for radio triggers 5 months ago this model had not even been announced...

I see, thank you. I guess I'll save up for a Flex + Mini. Or would I need 2 Flex's?

Cybers and never look back.
1x CST and 3 or 4 CSRB's and you're set.

Congrats, you've completely missed the point of this thread.

You can buy 1x RF-602 TX and 3x RF-602 RX for the price of a single CSRB - with presumably equal or similar reliability. Plus the RF-602's are hot-shoe based, don't need any cables to connect to a hotshoe type flash, can be used as a remote shutter and can wake up Canon Speedlites from stand-by.

But otherwise you're right ;)

I love mine! Though when using it with my flash bracket. It bends the plastic "hot shoe" I need to get the bracket that screws them in instead of the little screw on the side.

will ettl still work with the r602 and a canon 550ex flash?

to clarify:

-550ex connected to receiver
-transmitter connected to body

does ettl still function properly?

also if i have 2 receivers for 2 flashes, I wouldn't need to make either flash a master/slave, since their firing is being controlled by the transmitter (on the body)?

thanks!

NO this one does not offer ETTL.

But I can see why you're so confused, there are a few threads on new wireless product going on, they seem to have morphed into one cross discussing each other.

It's proven to be a totally confusing mess, and I consider myself rather expert in this field.

There are several wireless triggers, but to date only three offer TTL and two of those offer both.

You are not the first to post about these being TTL, it's obvious there is a lot of confusion on the various threads on this board via wireless triggers. :)

I've read the RF-602 uses a different frequency than the cactus' thus no interference.

The RF-602's use 2.4 GHz. The V4's used 433 MHz.

Unfortunately, that doesn't say too much. Interference often comes in frequency multiples. So on that front, 2.4GHz *should* be fine with the 5D. But much of this also depends on the RF design of the 602's. In short, we won't know until somebody tries.

But chances are pretty darn good that there won't be an issue.

Man, I'm SOOO glad I read this thread before my Cactus v4 set was shipped out. I was able to call MPEX, and tell them to cancel the Cactus v4 portion of my Strobist lighting set order :)
