It's happened to me lots of times, but to be honest it sometimes has helped with a nice backlight added to it. I had a photo published & I credit it to that backlight.

Never happened to me but one time I was shooting MTB competition and photog next to me suddenly said, hey thanks for the flash. I was like HUH? Then he showed the shot to me and said your flash gave me a good fill.
So it can be a good thing if you are underexposing your shots lol

Hasn't happened to me in sports. Ironically it did happen to me while I was shooting a banquet, me and another photography were both using the flash. I was shooting a family portrait of a retired varsity player had just won a a sports hall of fame award, I was bouncing mine off the roof and while it was adequate the shots were still kind of bland. Another photographer was using his flash a bit to my left and since our exposures/flash settings were virtually the same it was sort of like having another strobe and doing a shot in the studio. Added a nice little glow to the photo.

Happened to me last year but it helped my photo. The photo actually ended up in the media guide this year :)
