You can use memory cards higher than 2 gig by formatting them on your p.c. Just remember to format them as FAT not NTFS.
I use Extreme III, 4gig cards and they are fast, fast, fast.

My sister, the professional baker and cake decorator once told me that my camera takes great pics. My reply was that I thought her oven baked great cakes.

Just waiting until the batteries charge and need to go buy a decent CF card and for this rubbish weather to clear up. It's a solid piece of equipment though and the viewfinder is like night and day compared with the 1000D. Can't wait to get along to some motorsport events to try it out :D

Used my 1D for the first time yesterday. It was a blast with the 8fps and the 1/500 flashsync. However, I barely made it through the day with 3 batteries. Are there any tips to help the batteries last longer? Maybe disable some features or something like that? Also, when manual focusing, I found it kind of difficult to distinguish what was in focus and what wasn't. The small display didn't help much also when the subject looked in focus but when I uploaded them to my computer the subject wasn't in focus. Any tips on manual focusing? Are there any focusing screens that help with manual focus? Thanks
Anyways, here's two shots from today. My first time using an off camera flash

My first crack at motorsport with it. Really need to get a ND filter to get shutter speeds much lower.

As always cc is welcome.
...yeah, I need to clean the sensor :)

Hi Rabbs your senser looks like it went to the same party as mine.just my 2cents worth if it were me I would be using , ISO at around 400 ,try around F8, speed over 500sec and pan the camera like you are doing ,use A1 servo on Hi frame rate. This type of shooting is what this camera was made for ,it excels at high speed

^will try it, spent a lot of time practicing panning, was looking for a slower shutter speed and at iso 200 and 125sec I was at around f22'ish. Need to get some nd filters. Will have to find some more events to practice at. Just love this camera!!!

Hi again ,I would not be any slower than 500sec for this sort of shooting and with your lens F8 to F11 will be your sharpest ,check the photo of my dog in the water on flickr and check the picture info under type of camera used will give you an idea as to how I set up my old classic for action shoots. Hope I have been of help

How many of you use this as your primary camera? i find myself wanting to get a second one for wildlife/sports.

Also what settings do you have in your custom settings? i am wondering what all the options do, i have read about having 1 button for multipoint af and 1 button for centre focus, what settings do i enable to have this?

I found this online http://www.siphoto.com/?canon1D.inc (external link)
