I'm taking a trip to NYC in a few weeks and I want to limit myself to a few lenses with my 5D MKII. I'm thinking the 16-35 & 35L but maybe the 24-105 as well? Any suggestions? I'm thinking the 85L is too heavy but maybe the 16-35, 35 and 85 is doable.

You will need wide more than tele. The city has many very tall buildings. The 24-105 may be fine, but I know I take my 17-40 most of the time.

IF you pass by B&H or Adorama, you may just do that. :)

I went to NY and only used 24-105L. I had both wide and zoom (if needed) on a 5D2.

No my wife is tagging along. I would have to buy the nifty fifty. Otherwise, I will have to buy her a Fendi purse 20 minutes later.

What is funny about the 24-105 is it is the first lens I would sell yet the lens that is truly most useful. Its like having a garage full of sports cars but driving the truck more than anything else. If I could only take one I would have a hard time choosing between the 16-35 and 24-105.
