Everytime I shoot in the rain, I dream of having a 1Ds body which I can just use it like regular weather. I have a 5D II, it's wonderful but really lacking the weather proof sealings...

Any landscape shooters share the same feelings here?

Yep, it is certainly a luxury. Do keep in mind that it's a two-part deal: If the body is sealed but the lens is not, you don't have a complete solution. Gotta keep that in mind and also have a sealed lens.

Isn't the 5D MKII weathersealed?

I've used the 1D MKI with a non-weathersealed lens in the pelting rain at Milford Sound, NZ with no issues. Later I upgraded to a 1Ds and 24-105L and used the combo in the snow in Australia. No issues either and I've had the camera for a long time now.

There's an argument that even the most basic cameras are more weathersealed than their users and can tolerate the elements quite well. The more insurance you have however, the better.

If I'm shooting football in the rain with the 1DIII and 200L-IS + 1.4xII I use a rain cover.
