So I just came back from Costco, and picked up a Sandisk CF Ultra II.. Looking at it, I was surprised to see that it is now rated at 30MB/s.. Weren't the CF Extreme III at 30MB/s and the Ultra II's 15MB/s? Or is it just a play of numbers?

Sorry if this was discussed previously, but I did a quick search and didn't see anything..
:)

Adorama has 30 MB/s rated Extreme cards and 15 MB/s rated Ultra cards:
http://www.adorama.com/IDSCFE316G30.html (external link)
http://www.adorama.com/IDS8GBUC2153.html (external link)

If you go to the SanDisk web site, they do show the updated MB/s ratings which confirms what you bought.

I guess when they make an advancement everyone moves up a step?

The physical card only says Ultra 30MB/s

One thing I did notice was that the CF plastic holder is very difficult to open..

Not to sound ignorant, but can you post up the link?

I just went to the sandisk site.. If you click on the DSLR cards, and then Compact Flash, you will see the card.. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find specifics on the card on their website yet..

So it looks like the new lineup is as follows:

Ultra: 30MB/s
Extreme: 60MB/s
ExtremePro: 90MB/s

I have asked the same question to a reseller in the Netherlands.
In the past we had

Extreme III 30MB/s and Extreme III that were a little slower.
Ultra II 15MB/s
Extreme IV 45MB/s

Now you only have

"Extreme" 60MB/s
Extreme Pro 90MB/s
Ultra 30MB/s

Cards should be legit since they will be sold in The Netherlands also

I saw them at Costco too, and wondered the same thing. I hoped you used the coupon they had this weekend.

Also look inside the packaging, you should find a coupon for 50 free prints at the Costco processing Lab.

I picked up 5 of the Sandisk Ultra Backup 16GB USB flash drives. They were $49.00 minus $25.00 plus they had a coupon for 100 free prints inside the packaging.

I picked up 4 of these last Friday at Office Depot for $19.99 each and they work great.
