Hello, first post, I'm going to Singapore for a couple weeks and I'm considering taking a tripod. I've been there before but this is the first time I'm going to take my XSI with me. There are several places I've scouted that would be nice locations for night photos.
Right now I have a Velbon CX 444 tripod but I hate the 3-way pan/tilt head. It's a light, pretty compact tripod but I cannot stand the hard-to-adjust, weak plastic head. I think it sags, but I haven't really tested it. (I just started getting more serious about photography.)
Yesterday I tried a Manfrotto 190XPROB with 488RC2 ball head at a local camera shop and I loved it. I am definitely going to buy it soon. The Manfrotto setup makes me dislike the Velbon more. The only downside is that it is heavier than the Velbon.
I don't have a problem packing a tripod, so I'm just wondering if you guys could help me with my decision. Should I just take the Velbon and deal with the crappy head or should I buy the Manfrotto (which I'm going to do eventually) and take that with me?
