given the fact that the price stated excludes VAT, I'm wondering if it's justified go for this one...esp. the differences compared to the 135L

looking forward to the first samples

Full set (56 samples) is HERE (external link).
Bokeh, COLOURS, sharpness, rendering, contrast... out of this world... :) But honestly: I don't suppose that my Planar 85mm would be worse in this botanical garden location (excluding macro shots).
For REAL macro shots I would prefer cheaper - and stabilised! - Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro... AF is another advantage here. As you rather don't need very wide apertures for macro shots, Zeiss' f/2.0 isn't an advantage in macro situations.
So... seems this Zeiss lens is not for me, not for this price, anyway...

No rush in photography... My junkyard: 1/ Good, convenient shoes. 2/ "Ape with Razor" set: ΣSIGMALux50mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM plus 5DMkII, footzoom, flash... what flash?
3/ Sometimes also ΣSIGMA 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG HSM and Carl Zeiss Planar

This may be a silly question but was a circular polarizer use for the last picture?

No, it was taken way past sunset, ISO1600, f2 or 2.2
Just a moment of some great blue light :)

How much PP? They look great, but I can't tell if the colors/contrast are the lens or PP.(especially being web size and all)

Snowboarder,

thanks for all the shots, I'm also very interested in this lens and the only thing that scares me is the lack of AF. Few questions for you:

1. For the long range shots, do you just preset the lens to infinity and shoot or do you focus while looking into the viewfinder? How quick/easy is it to focus via the FF viewfinder, not Live Preview.

2. What is your success rate for sharp shots at medium to long range distance.

3. Can you post some close up portraits with this lens. I'm thinking about using this lens instead of 100L and 135L combo.

Thank you.

^ MF is easy. Look through the VF and focus or use the hyperfocal distance if you're in a hurry. Worse comes to worse, stop it down a little and rack it out to infinity.

An optional "high precision" focus screen might be of use as well, depending on your lens lineup.
