My friend wanted to take some photo's of my daughter, and I took this shot with her camera.


And she took these.. I edited them (I have permission to post)

I don't know crap about lighting or much else.
A hobbyist at best.

The skin is blown out bad on these, it almost blends in with the light behind them.
I would rethink the edit.

yeah the edits are not my style, try to go for a more natural coloring. I think the picture you took (1st one right?) is the best of the bunch, you have natural looking catchlights, where as the second has pin lights and a chopped arm.

When post processing, you should focus on doing simple clean stuff to enhance the picture and subject rather than detract from it.

Though green rarely works as a tint in post processing I would like to see her pop out more from the background. I like all of them but the first one - the soft diffuse look doesn't suit me. The shot is good though.

#2 is too blown out. Last one is a bit too blurry
