I'm not sure if this should go into this section (photo sharing), or in the Kids/Family Discussion sub-forum, but I was wondering if those of you guys/gals who had the opportunity to photograph infants, had some behind the scenes shots as well as tips you could share. I'm interested in the classic B/W sleepy infants shots, infants being held, etc.

Maybe if this is a good turnaround, we can make this an official 'behind the scenes' tread for photographing infants…

Thank you in advance

I don't have any myself, but when I first starting shooting newborn sessions I would do a search on flickr and follow a few of the photographers blogs/posts on newborn/infant set-ups.... some great shots on there.

out of interest, what f-stop do you shoot at?

I tried 5.6 and it was too much, so decided to try 3.2 and it was too narrow.

it depends--- depends on what your intended focus point is. I'd love to use some 2.8 or even 1.4 on little baby feet. There's no right answer when it comes to creativity. In your example, there's still F4 to try :)

I shoot most my newborns at 2.8, but it depends. When I am right up close, face only, I'll close down a little more, to 4 or so.
