I finally got out to shoot some of the snow we got a couple days ago, been busy with school finals and work. I am looking for C&C on these, specifically exposure, white balance and composition if you have any tips. I found almost all the shots wanted to be really blue out of camera, not sure I fixed them well enough. Also if you have any feedback on the B&W conversions I would appreciate it.

I don't have any filters for my Tokina 11-16 yet so the skies are pretty blown out in the shots where I left it in. All were taken with the Tokina 11-16 on the 40D. I LOVE this lens. It's my first UWA and I absolutely love the shots I can get with it.

1.) Updated with a better edit.

Very nice; I think the parts of the trees showing in the first two are distracting - when I crop the them out I like these two much better. I am looking at either the canon 10-22 or the tokina 11-16 for my next lens - still debating?

Thanks. That is a very good observation. It does look much better cropped as you say.

Also I will vote for the Tokina for your next lens since you have the 17-40 to match up with the focal length. That is the same lineup I am going to have once my 17-40 arrives. :)

Nice set! I couldn't resist, however, to play with #1, because I know it has something more than what comes through...

Hope you don't mind...
(It's heavily compressed to fit it on the forum here, but well...just an idea!)

Canon 500D, Sigma 18-250mm & no clue how to make the best of either, yet!
