No excuses. We have separate bank accounts—we split all the bills and other expenses each month. The rest, we spend as we please for the most part. My problem isn't "getting permission," it's having the discretionary money leftover at the end of the month!

It's funny, though. My wife could care less about photography, but she likes the photos I take of our 19 month old (never mind that I'm definitely an amateur photographer) and is starting to want a better camera than her Canon P&S. Hmm... it's going to take a bit more prodding to get her into the hobby, but once it happens we'll definitely be cash poor.

My wife knows what my camera gear costs. She is always encouraging me to pursue my interests. I guess she has also seen other non-monetary benefits from my interest in photography - lots of walking, relaxing, trips to places of interests, etc.

Has anyone here investigated the reaction from the wife when the interests start stretching into needing studio gear so that one can can take better pictures of scantily clad models  ...?

Since my income depends on lenses and cameras I don't need to convince anybody... :)

But the above quote that it's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission is how it used to be...
