The wife and I just landed in Cedar Key Florida for the winter, managing a small Motel, RV Campground and Tiki Bar.

This place is birding paradise and every day I'm going crazy not being able to go out shooting. We're trying to get the place cleaned up, but that's another story.

So the other day, we're sitting out at the tiki bar talking with friends when I hear a ton of splashing in the water. This is strange because its a tidal marsh, and not really an area you'd want to swim, but a haven for fish and birds who fish.

We look over to see a dolphin herding up schools of fish and jumping up through the center of the school chasing after some lunch.

Notice the fish right in front of the dolphin its chasing!!!

This shot the dolphin actually caught the fish!

This was so amazing for us because we knew this area was rich in aquatic wildlife and birds, but had no idea we'd be sitting on our dock watching a Sea World show!!

I'm trying to talk the wife into letting me take out a loan and get that 800mm that Arthur Morris is always talking about on his site!

Hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed watching it live!!

Hi Pat, You and Cindy picked a neat place to winter. It may get colder than more southern areas, but there is a lot of wildlife around there and it is a neat place. We once landed at the Cedar Key airport with a friend who had his own plane. That was some experience. We've never stayed at Sunset Isle, where you must be. My son has some hunting property not far from Cedar Key and we were just up there on our recent trip.

Neat shots of the dolphins herding fish. We witnessed that once when we were boaters. A group of dolphins herded a school of fish close to shore, then cut them to ribbons. Interesting to watch.

Have a great time at Cedar Key.

Thanks for the comments guys!! Stan, if you make it back up this way, give me a shout and we'll make it a point to go out shooting.

There are two big Osprey nests right over by the Airport, and we just talked with one of the locals who dropped off some brochures that was advertising taking people up in his plane for aerial flights for $20 a person!!

When I was asking him about it, he simply said "I'm retired and just love to fly, if I can get a few people to help pay for fuel I'm happy, I'm not doing it to make money!" That's my kind of guy!!

So as soon as the weather breaks, its been quite cloudy and rainy the past week, we plan to take advantage of that for sure

For sure, if we are up that way, we'll check with you. Do take the flight, that is a great area for low level reconnaisance.

Stan, I'm planning on it as soon as the rainy weather clears up. I'll be sure to post some aerial photos up after we take it

I've never done any Aerial Photography before, so I'm looking forward to trying something new

Anyone got any hints?
