I think this turned out very well using the XT with ef-s 18-55 IS. This was taken in a church in Salzburg, Austria.

Try different settings of the white balance. If you take a shot using the natural light of an incandescent light bulb, you could set the white balance to tungsten to remove some of the yellow/orange cast. This is if you are shooting jpeg's as in raw you can do it as well in post processing.
