With the upcoming Canon rebates, you have to make sure you buy from an authorized dealers. I noticed with the last round of rebates, everybody that sold Canon products listed a rebate available, some forgot to mention that they were unauthorized and the rebate would be denied.

Here is the list that Canon sent me. Take note that it says "some" so email Canon if in doubt.

Thank you for contacting Canon product support. We value you as a
Canon
customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you.

Maybe the title should be changed because it really only applies to US and a clear title would stop many non US people clicking through and wasting their time. But very good for US people.

It's not on either list, but they constantly have Canon events at calumet and Canon reps, etc... I am pretty sure they're an authorized dealer. I'll find out.

I see..

...and I would add that there are a few "authorized" dealers that could stand to have the authorization removed.. some of them are proven swindlers and con artists.

So buyer beware,. just becuase there authorized does mean a smooth transaction.

I'd urge anyone looking for a place to buy to check the vendor here;

Please note where I state "some" authorized vendors. There are many more that are not on the list, and some that aren't the greatest vendors in the world. This should be looked at as a starting point. As usual, contact Canon when in doubt.

Can I add Badger Graphic Sales, Inc.?
http://www.badgergraphic.com/index.html (external link)
They are local for me, but also do a mean mail order service, and thier prices are usually right in line with B & H. I know they are Canon authorized, because I have asked them, and I have gotten rebates on purchases through them.

Costco is on the list of authorized Canon dealers, but I don't see Sam's Club. Does anyone know whether Sam's Club is an authorized dealer or not?

this may be a really stupid question, but i can't seem to find an answer on canon's website anywhere:

what does it mean if a vendor is unauthorized, other than for purposes of rebate? for example, some of the unauthorized retailers have really, really low prices that would render the rebates irrelevant. other than a "buy at your own risk" sort of thing, do the products still carry a canon warranty? or are they just guaranteed to be out and out scams?

It is not listed on the website, please take note that it is a list that I received in an email from Canon.

I use the "authorized" for rebate considerations. I just don't deal with the places that stand a high chance of being a scam.

Just because a place is not "authorized" doesn't make it a scam.

Again, I state this is the list that I received and DOES NOT list every possible authorized or unauthorized vendor. It does list a lot of the ones we hear about. Of course, there are many more vendors that should be on one list or the other. Use this list as a reference or starting point only.

Keep in mind there are some vendors listed as "authorized" that some of us consider to not be such a great vendor. I don't think Canon polices the individual vendors, so yep sure to be some that you don't want to deal with.

Hello, can anyone tell me if they have experience buying from best buy cameras.com. Their site looks very professional to me. Their prices seem to be very good. Any positive or negative feedback appreciated. I did not see them listed in m3incorp's thread
