I'm pretty sure its just the JPG compression, because the original is crystal clear

haha yes, middle of the day shoots aren't preferred, but I'm trying to learn to adapt to all types of situations, and that was the only time the shoot could be scheduled.

Hah!! Doesn't it always work out that way? I stress to the models (families, etc) that I'd like to meet an hour before sunset and they NEVER are able to do it then. "How bout Noon?" they always say!

Thanks for all the feedback! I haven't done very many "people" shoots, and I'm still learning strobes, but I think I'm at least making some progress! Comments from outside sources always helps alot.
