$2499

That would be already a lot of money. I guess with that amount you could get f4 IS and 135L, getting one stop more AND sharpness :p Although not in a single package...

Extra batteries / Rocket blower / Small tripod

Nice! I can't wait to see what the IQ of this thing is like... might make me consider the f/2.8 version of this lens again.

Seems like this would have been a great time for Canon to release an updated 24-70 too... knock the dust off of these old zooms. :)

If the IQ is anything like the f4 IS, this will be a fantastic lens! I guess > $2000 for sure.

Looks like a nice new lens.....sure wish it was listed around $1600 which is what i paid for my 70-200 IS 2.8. But I would guess that Canon is going to raise the price on everything, at least until the US dollar vs. the yen goes back up. I was told that this is the reason for new higher pricing from Canon.

Canon 7D, Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 24-105L f/4, Canon 35L 1.4, Canon 200L f/2.8, Canon 70-200L II IS f/2.8, Canon 300L f/2.8IS, 580ex Flash, 430ex Flash, 1.4X Converter. Bunch of other crap! I want the new 500mmL and the 200L f/2.0

Get this - according to Canon's web page (external link), the new EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens is NOT SUPPLIED with a lens hood. It also uses a new ET-87 hood (the old lens uses an ET-86). So, add the price of the hood to the price of the lens.

Canon is pretty good at screwing up info like that on their site. I wouldn't worry about it yet. :)

Looks like the CA will be less for starters. It will still make a good club if a shoot goes south.:p
No doubt Canon got tired of the "it's not sharp" whiners.
