I'm going to buy this one, but not in the first months they're in the stores. Would the high price not be a commercial stunt. Normal people like me for example, would not buy this lens. So the people who'll buy this lense, journalists big companies, will get a huge amount of lenses because they're the only ones buying this expensive glass + the pro's will buy them with winter olympics this year. If you wait .5- 1 year, the prices will lower. to under $2000.

Nikon burps out a VER II and jacks the price up significantly over the VER I Pretty easy decision for Canon once that happened. Add some tweaks, dub it VER II and run the price up. Is the VER II worth it? if its as sharp as the 7-2 f4L IS, then YES! its worth my pennies because the 7-2 2.8L IS was starting to show its age thanks to canon upping the mp count on its new dslrs!
