Has anyone ever sold anything to Creve Coeur Camera? I will have some things to sell in a few weeks (or possibly months) and I don't want to go through the hassle of Craigslist or having to ship to someone and having something possibly go wrong, so I wanted to try to make this as simple as possible. Do they buy equipment for a good price, or will I get ripped off? I know of course to check the current used resale value before I go in to to make sure that they're offering me a fair price, but I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience before I even spend time doing business with them. Thanks!

You could probably make more $$$ if you listed your equipment on Ebay. Just charge enough to cover shipping and little more. Most camera store don't pay out much when they do sell your items.

True... it's just that I've heard about so much negative stuff happening on ebay lately, and about sellers getting burned, so I guess it spooks me a little bit.

I avoid Creve Coeur Camera. They buy very low and sell very high.

A better option than selling outright might be a consignment deal but either way, you'll never get the same amount of cash out of a retail store you can get here, on Fred Miranda, CL or eBay.

The store has to allow themselves enough of a gap to turn it around for more than they'll pay you. Otherwise it's a money losing deal for them.

I suppose I'd end up getting the most money if I went on ebay, rather than selling it to somewhere similar to the likes of KEH? Makes me a wee bit nervous but I guess that's the route I'll go. :)

Why not sell on here? You should get a pretty decent price and most transactions are quite smooth.

That's a good point... I tend to assume that what I will be selling (first thing will be the XS body) isn't something that people who are on here are typically buying at the moment. Though I guess it couldn't hurt to post it and see what happens when the time comes. :)

How much do you want for the body? My aunt is getting out of point and shoots, and will be needing something but she might end up buying another point and shoot because of her budget. Pm me with the price and details :)

Hiya! Well it's not going to be for another few weeks/months yet, but if your aunt is still looking to buy at that time I would be more than happy to PM you with the details!

I agree with everyone else about ccc. I have sold on Craigslist without any issues. I set a reasonable price and made sure I had a little wiggle room. I always meet in a public place(Sams club for my 300D, Chesterfield valley for a flash, dierbergs for my 10-20). Usually all of the hassle is dealt with in email(please ship to my friend in nigeria...). Usually if you post no shipping, meet in person, you can avoid some of that. I've had 11 transactions on craigslist in stl with no problems yet. just make sure you ask a fair price +$25 for negotiations and you should be good.
