I took a recent drive down to La Jolla this weekend to get the pelicans in their prime colors. The were showing off their colors nicely on the rocks, it was a good morning to get these guys before the rain came in  I hope you all Enjoy!

Very nice well taken shots. I prefer the last three, nice colours, sharp details. The background in the second tends to dominate. Not sure the crop in the first one works with the bill disappearing into the corner.

I didn't know pelicans were that pretty! heheh
Nice work, for me, I like them all, but I like number 1 best, and of course, the last 3 look really good also.
The second one is strange looking, not from what you did, but I really can't make out where the head is. heheh

@ Sparker1 : Thank you very much

@ Canonada : Thank you Joe for your input. I was trying for the longest time to get the head throw back as in number 2, unfortunately this is all I was given :( Number 1 is not a crop, full frame with a 500 f4 :D Meant to capture the detail of the feathers of the pelicans face and eye color. Their beaks are too long! haha

@ recrisp: Thank you Randy, neither did I until this year. They are quite colorful right now at La jolla, ca. very pretty red on their throats! Yea number 2 is funny, I was trying so long to get that shot!

Wonderful shots Josh......they're beautiful when they're all decked out in their breeding colors.
