I have a picture that I need to add more background to. The background was a little small, and I didn't expect to shoot 5 people. I've used the stamp tool before, but it's not working well on this one. I'm having particular problems with the left arm of the girl in front. So what's a good way to add more background.

Here's a link to the full size photo (external link).

Subscribing out of curiosity. Don't suppose you fired off a frame either before or after they were on set did you?

I'd have to dig through my rejected files. What do you have in mind?

A clean background with the same exposure should allow you to create "wings" to add on to the sides.

May take some work but it's better (IMO) than trying to draw from scratch or clone/heal from little bits of background peaking from behind harms and legs.

I found 2 that might work, but not sure the exposure is the same. If they were, how would I go about inserting a slice of the background?

Work vertical slices of the empty background above in behind overhanging limbs with layers and masks.

if you want the full version pm me your email address. The full version is 1.6 megs here is what it looks like scaled down. basically just masked it in ps and then painted the extra background. I dont think it turned out horrible.

Yeah, eko, nice edit. I shot you a pm.

Any links on how to use masks? I'm pretty new to photoshop.

Good job, eko!

I'm having particular problems with the left arm of the girl in front.

Your problem with the arm is probably that the clone tools don't work well with edges. My solution is to select first: Selecting areas in PS.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I have a few more like this to work on. Now I have something to try besides just the clone tool.

That is a great job eko. I don't see the need to even try on this one.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I'm gonna bump this thread instead of starting a new one. I'm in the same boat. I've got way too many people in front of this background. How can I extent the background for this pic? Here are the pics.

And here is the plain background.

Thanks for the help.
