50D wont do anything your 1dmkIIn cant do except maybe crop more. ALl your lenses will be NEW on your 5D. really wide 17-35, perfect walkaround 24-70. and great portrait lens 70-200

you'll also gain a one stop shallower dof. But it is slow, be ready for that.

50D would give you more reach, a high res LCD (nice!), Live View (really nice), decent frame rate, slightly better AF, 14 bit RAW, and a new camera warranty.

Go full frame. Get a 5D classic. You won't be sorry!

Agree with Eric+kidslash. 50D is nice but since it does not have video, it does not offer any more features than your 1D. At the current selling price, a used 5D is a steal for FF. You will gain more megapixel, a true landscape and portrait camera, and of course better high-iso performance.

6D + enough lenses for now.

You have a 1D machine gun with very good IQ. The 5D oldie will surpass the IQ and make your 24-70 into a wideangle versatile walkaround zoom. You'll be able to pop images alot more easier with a full frame.

If your comparing both bodies for IQ the 5d classic is the winner as long as we are talking about slower moving subjects.

I sold my 50D because it couldn't keep up in the IQ department for me. For fast AF I'd only consider a 1DsmkII or 1dmkIII for the price range I am willing to pay.

Even with my 5dmkII I still love using my 5d classic. That old body is really that good in IQ. Center point is excellent on both 5D(mkII) but the outer points can be a tad frustrating in some situations.
