I like the idea of being able to change the drive myself (has a removable SATA drive).I had an old Vosonic that died - recently I tried to have a replacement drive put in but the smallest now available is too large - won't initialise!

I had one until it got stolen. :-(
I liked it for the bit of time I had it.
It feels a little cheap plastic wise and the screen isn't anything special, but it has fast transfer speeds so it does its job.

thanks . we are off to NZ and I was going to get a portable external drive to go with my net book - but then realised I'd also need a card reader- so I wondered about the vosonic. We are away for a month and I can easily do 8G in one day!

Why not get a NexTo Extreme ND2700 Phototank instead? Superfast, lots of gigs and no wasteful fancy stuff to empty the battery uselessly. Or do you need to view the pictures in addition to backing them up? The camera display already has this function.
