Newbie looking for advice with Pocket Wizards

Hi,

I'm a newbie and need some assistance in setting up my pocket wizard plus II transceiver, PW Mini TT1, 580 ex II and 480 ex II.

I attached the Mini TT1 onto my Canon 5D Mark II hotshoe. Next, the PW plus II was sync with my 580 ex II set on ETTL. The flash triggers but I seem to get a curtain on my images. 1/125, 8.0 and 100 iso.

Does anyone know how to resolve this? Do I have my set up incorrectly??

If you are going to use the 580EX II flash on a PW Plus II unit, the flash needs to be set to Manual mode. It can't be set to E-TTL mode because the Plus II is not E-TTL compatible. If you need to have the 580EX II operating in E-TTL mode, you need to mount it on a FlexTT5 unit.

I'm pretty sure that when you use your plus II you negate any ETTL opportunity.
Ettl is only available wireless by using the mini/flex or flex/flex combo.
With that in mind, set your 580 on manual. I'd also check the settings on your Mini to make sure there's no delay as part of your hyper-synch.
You can't just use ONE ettl PW and have ettl.

I've change the setting on the 580 EX to manual at 1/4 stops and I still am getting a curtain on my images. I forgot to mention that I also have a lastolite ezybox on the 580 but can't see how that would cause the curtaining.

Still frustrated and confused.

Can you post an example of the result you are getting, please? It might give us a better idea of what might be going on with your set up.
