Both are nicely done, but I like #1 best! I think you did a nice job with HDR. Sometimes it gets overdone. But you did good keeping it subtle, yet effective!

Looks like you had a beautiful evening. The thing about photomatix and other programs like that is they do not handle moving objects well (the clouds. hint. ;]). Also, take a look at the headlights. See something odd?

Try manually blending these. I'm sure your results will be much better, although it may take a bit more work.

Seriously though, looks like a beautiful sunset.
