FWIW, I purchased a refurbished Canon 1.4 TC from Adorama. Looked brand new except for the stray finger print on the "objective" lens. Strange, but no matter--works great!
Just wish they still had refurbed 300 2.8's for $3500!

Ill let everyone know when I get my Refurbished and Used lenses i ordered from adorama last night. I'll post some pics showing it all.

Canon 50 f/1.4 USM refurb for $334 + free shipping + 1 year warranty
Canon 70-200 f/2.8L USM used for $999 + $12 shipping + 90 day warranty

pics to come.

Got it all in looks pretty good, the used 70-200 was used for sure and has and old date code of UJ, ouch its 15 years old, but works fine. the only real disapointment is it said it came with lens cap and it came with a junkie non-canon lens cap, they cost $10 from adorama and they should have put a legit cap on, kinda dropped the ball on that one Helen.

pretty good looking stuff.

I agree; can you email me with the order number so we can find out who was responsible - and make sure he never does it again!

I think it's a great source for lenses. I bought a EF-S 55-250 IS and it's perfect. (Too bad I'm selling it after one use; replaced with a 70-200L)

It's like getting a QC inspection and saving some money. Now that they have a one year warranty, even better. I always check for a refurb now. If the price difference is not that big, I'll go new (helps a bit for resale for thsoe that don't knwo about these refurbs), but refurb is a great option (from Adorama; I don't trust those eBay guys)

Anyone know why a refurbished lens would be more expensive than a brand new one?

Given, it's not a big difference but there is a refurb 135L on Adorama selling for 1029.95 when the brand new version is 999.00.

Hey Helen,

I just went to grab the SKU numbers but it looks like it has already been corrected, the refurb is now listed for 949.95.

I got my refurb 17-55 from Adorama today. It only took 2 days to arrive but I was out of town so just picked it up from my neighbor. It looks perfect, I can't tell it from new. Like someone else said, cheaper (by $160) and hand inspected and calibrated - no brainer. I used the savings to order a UV and CPL filter. I'm so excited!
