Here are a couple of my favorite pilots for the thread. Taken from the cockpit of the Blue Angels Fat Albert at BNAS.

Love the gyroscopic thingy-majig mounted on top of the IP, is it standard Lockheed issue or a custom installation?

Tools: I like things with real dials and knobs.

Pilots from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight relaxing between displays, it is proposed that funding for the BBMF which celebrates the sacrifice of those who gave their lives in defence of their country during WWII will be axed by the Government in the next round of Defence cuts. It costs £3m a year to keep this celebration to the sacrifice of "The Few" in the air which is less than 0.1% of the defence budget, we probably spend more than that sending condoms to Africa.

Sorry, I'll get off my soap box now

A little titbit on the pig photo Jay.

The nav looking my way is a woman who is the sister of my sons friend......(still following!) Thing is I didn't know about the connection until I showed my son the photo that evening. He sees the shot and says "my mates sister is a nav on those....and she's the only current female F-111 nav in the RAAF".

All of a sudden it hit me.....When I was on the obs deck taking the shots, one of the old guys who was working at the fighterworld museum that day is telling me the nav on the plane coming in is a girl...... the only current female F-111 navigator.

So there you go. Her name is adelle, so someone clever gave her the nick "infadelle"

btw, she loved the series of shots I took even though I stuffed them up. I was using a monopod on the deck, but once word got out it was coming in for a touch and go (it is only a visitor at Williamtown RAAF) all the people came walking out out and the vibrations stuffed me up. My whole body was bouncing on the old timber decking! The softness of the shot is obvious. And it was a crap white overcast sky. They rarely come down my way, and they are soon, (who knows when?), to be replaced with superhornets.

Cool Backstory! RAAF 'Varks made their (presumably) last Red Flag visit in March 2009 at Nellis AFB outside Las Vegas and I wasn't able to get any decent shots of them. I was definately bummed.
