Did you really need to post to your own topic three seperate times (versus editing original?) :D

Very interesting... Looks like a great upgrade in the rebel line.

His name IS DataDump :D

Am I missing it or is Micro Adjust not included in the T2i. That's a show stopper for me if it's not there.

Jim

That'll be on the 60D, otherwise there's little reason to buy it. They already haven't left too much headroom between the 550d and the 7d. If a 60d does arrive it will be interesting to see what features it has.

I was afraid of that. I like the size of a Rebel plus the grip unlike many that prefer a larger camera. I have big hands but I find my XSi very comfortable to use with the grip on.

I could care less about video. It seems that a 50D is probably the route I need to consider for an upgrade.

Thanks!

Jim

I don't recall any Rebel ever having AF Micro Adjust, so it's not really surprising that the T2i does not either.

-EDIT- Just saw what you posted after. If a 60D does come out, you may consider that instead of the 50D? The latter had Micro Adjust, so if there is a 60D, I'd bet on it having that feature a well.

i dont think micro adjustments are included in any of the rebel line cameras. that's something you have to jump up to the xxD line for.

Yeah sure its cheap, that's not really the issue, where are you going to store them. I have no intention of backing up more than 1TB (which is what I have available for everything now, back up twice so 3TB).

Why? You know you can get a TB for about 70$ nowadays and it's only dropping more.

1 TB will hold about 41,600 5d II raw files.

The point is, this will bring (nearly) top-quality HD video to the masses like never before.

I suspect the noise control will improve just like it did between the 15MP 50D and 18MP 7D.

And Jpg that's 111,111~ files if you say each file is around 9 megs (might be smaller i forgot)

That's a lot of pictures. Also it's bad management to keep all your files as raw if you don't need them to be (which is most cases). While I'm sure there are people that shoot a lot of pictures even 30k is a whole lot of pictures. Again these are based on 24mp 5d II files.. the 18mp ones should be a little smaller

I would have preferred a 15MP camera with a 1.3 crop and the micro adjustment feature. But I realize that combination wouldn't sell well to the masses.

Hi Fella's,

I knew the Rebel line hadn't included Micro Adjust in previous models. It's the one feature that I really want on the next body. I still enjoy my XSi but have a desire for a few more features so I've been waiting for the new announcements.

Not everywhere, in europe you will still pay $100 for 1TB (and thats a very good deal).
raw files aren't the problem, its editing the raw files. Plus 41k is like 1,5 years of use (in my house anyway). And don't forget video. And all the other stuff people keep on their harddrives.
I just meant I'm not willing to fork out more money for 18mp and buy another $70 hard drive to accomodate it.

I'm not complaining, I know everythings cheap cheap cheap nowadays (hell I remember paying $400 for a 1GB SD card) but it really isn't necessary.

The 7D seems to slow down to about 4fps (from what I have read) in low light

I believe that is caused by some metering setting. If you use the camera properly it'll keep capturing 8 fps in low light.

The full manual control in movie mode is a suprise, do you think we will see an update for the 500d now? as theres no point holding out to upsell anymore.

Nope, very unlikely. Canon isn't going to spend R&D to add features to a discontinued $700 product. They move on to new and upcoming models with their R&D dollars. Adding features for a $2700 5D2 is a different story.
